Book Wayfarer

Twilight, Book 1 of 3

By Howard Chaykin

Some fella is attempting to coax his cat, due to needing it as his replacement eyes, and as he's ranting to himself, his hand finds some cool, hard steel, which reminds him of years ago when he'd used one. He was a young man working with a museum and attempting to reason with the locals, some soldiers to back him up after he'd had enough time to sway them, but the fella states his guys could only handle waiting a too small amount of time for what seems to be Homer Glint to use his charm. He goes to the village and asks for the chief, who was currently chatting with a journalist with a video camera of how animals, he an ape-man would never be treated equally, if they don't prove their worth. His interviewer also was his ex-wife, Karel! The 2 talk of humans future attempts to link partial men to their "matrix".

Then, gunfire pops off with Glint missing, but turning up in the larger hut. Karel the interview is pissed off by the interruption, and oddly Richard Purvis, who was also asking q's with Karel working with the news, decapitates Jocko, her ex's head, solidifying the decision to think themselves above "animals", despite Jocko not quite being an animal in the way he means; which was seeing Jocko touch Karel setting him off... Back on a spaceship, "The New Messiah" chats to a couple officers about genetics and how Glint had made one of them. In Mexico, the last of the human race lived, but weren't welcome in certain establishments.

It doesn't stop Starker from going in a mech only sex house or whatever to collect his older bro, John, he agreeing to join him. Then, Glint pisses off Karel, Homer so full of himself he thinks everyone wants him. John is walking and chatting with Skarker about Tommy Tomorrow having sold out his love for media coverage, and still manages to fuck up his mission. Meanwhile, Ilda is a sex bot, and pale as hell, but for some reason compares herself to a "chrome steel n” (hard ‘r‘ even..).

After, Karl claims the story there was much larger than the museum comprehended. She then attempts to help duck-looking fellas from being killed by Homer or whoever, then after the wood spaceship burst in flame, it sparks the methesuloids which affects Karel in a way which ends up killing some methuseloids, a co-worker, and burst his eyes. Now, Karel and the dead's only hope was blind old Homer with a gun and cat for eyes. A weird ass start, I'm sort of meh on this.. Christ ahmighty, how he mistreats his regenerative cat, though! I'm good on this trilogy.
