Trigun Maximum Vol. 4: Bottom of the Dark

Jessica intros herself, and talks of her "sweetie" being gone yrs at a time, and is a natural wanderer, she excited to finally feed Vash again. Wolfwood inadvertently insults her by thinking they'd be eating something more exotic with the types of plants they had about. Vash explains most people slept in the cylinders, and it's easier to understand by seeing the system he referred. It's an impressive dome, looking like a globe with pipes running from it.

Vash confirms the ship sends messages to Earth when Wolfwood asks. For almost 100 yrs, they've transmitted messages, Wolfwood only praying for "hope to reach tomorrow". They get a message which suggests in some yrs, ships'll be sent for them. Everyone's celebrating, but the wizened elderly man who states they still had much to do, this only the start.

Then, something occurs and the signal's lost, Knives talking to himself like he's chatting to the humans of why they'd think he'd allow more of them to come. As Vash and Wolfwood walk in the hot desert, they hear a car coming their way, the 2 chasing after it since, Mer and Mil don't stop. Knives states being pleased by whatever'd been done, showing their power. Meanwhile, Mil and Mer save Wolfwood and Vash's asses again, the 2 recovering in hospital after looking dried out.

Then, a woman's suffering a perv and Mer saves her with her "faggot-gun ~Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", Vash and Wolfwood now up and leaving without telling the 2. As Mil and Mer leave, Mil is looking ahead as Mer vanishes in a bright light. Mil's back in a bar crying as Mer wakes in a cage with the Gung Ho Gang. Vash and Wolfwood're sitting and figuring what to do about Mer's kidnap, when Zazie the Beast intros and looks at them through their window.

The 3 go to the fortress mentioned, and Wolfwood tries to make Mil wait for them whilst they handled the gang and get Mer. A shit ton, and large explosions erupt, Vash next facing off with Gauntlet. When he hears all he'd come for was Mer, he decides to kill her, then kill him. Zazie and Mer can see the explosions from their vantage, he nonchalantly comparing Vash and Knives not seeming like bros, to Mer's surprise.

Because Mer seems desperate to know more, Zazie decides to start with the history of the planet. As he goes on, he reveals how Vash and Knives are self-reliant plants. Wolfwood's next helped by Mil, and Vash's still handling Gauntlet, adamant he'd deal with Knives despite his stubbornness. When Wolfwood gets up, he tries to have Mil stay behind by whacking her with his cross, knowing Mer's bait. Knives speaks of how close to winning they are with Gauntlet, he calling up a chick to help.
