The Crying of Lot 49
By Thomas Pynchon

It starts a bit slowly, and is a confusing twisted hallucination of a read. Although I did find after getting a few chapters in, the reading became easier, the flow of the book changed for me and it became a slide for the finish. It does end quite abruptly which I'm not a big fan of, but I'm glad to have read it, for knowledge's sake. Pynchon did seem ahead of his time for his writing style at any rate.
