Saint for Rent - The Unofficial Biography of an Argentine Time Traveler

By Xu Ru

The graphics on this comic are impressive. It's an unraveling sort of story and it's been a little bit in between starting the 1st chapter, so we'll see if it's any easier to follow. Armand gets separated from the time traveler, he considering how often time travelers got themselves stuck in time loops. Then he lands in the Helen, upon someone, this hotel a luxury, one.

He having landed on a guest in the left elevator. The others there recognizing him and he getting a room for 3 days when the concierge puts him on the books. It's 1890, and a little girl, Mei related to the scheduler identifies Armand as Unc. Almond, and her pop pissed off at his entrance. He continues to get the rules laid out to him by her pop, but he ready to get to his room, being physically held back to be inquired if he actually planned on paying this time around or if he'd be making another reason up.

Then it's determined this is his first time traveling so it would actually be free, but this time Armand has an inquiry about the glowing symbols on his arm. Mei's pop leaves the room temporarily and she offers Armand some jasmine tea and prepares it as she specifies of her pop using the lift, not able to time travel, since he was an innkeeper. She also reveals the glowing bit on his arm was his time travelers visa, she declaring she'd get one, as well someday. He asks where he could find someone to instruct him how to return, she saying she didn't think he was ready for the time travelers lobby quite yet.

Her pop then returns with some guests and their puppies, to her delight, but pop saying pets weren't allowed, and now they were dirtying his furniture. Armand biffing off hard for not liking pups, apparently. Mei advises he stop running since one of the dogs had a penchant for not giving up. Armand staggers outside and interrupts 2 lovebirds who take offense at being interrupted, Armand turning to try and stop the little dog.

It doesn't work and Armand must continue to flee, falling over in a fountain and finding a eureka moment. He q'd his ability to be there at this time when he initially wasn't supposed to be, obv having changed the past since the couple wouldn't have left their table if it wasn't for him. Mei then finds him on the roof, counts his sneezes, and annoys him to the point of he telling her to end the "Uncle Almond" bit. He declares he hates dogs, and she tells him he'd confessed he liked her dog, which he believed to be false.

After he request she stop acting like she knew him, she stammers of having thought he'd always be the same, regardless of his age. He doesn't adhere to these terms and requests he not be told how he should act. When he tries to show he's sorry for being mean, he makes it worse, asking what she wanted, she wishing to travel with him, and he agreeing because he'd pinky promised. The 2 then debate on where to go and whether Armand could meet an older self, she agreeing that'd be stellar.

So by using the elevator, she's able to have Armand click them back to the Cloverfield hotel. When he allows Mei to hang on to him as they go,she starts getting precocious, and then another of Armand's selves is sitting with Casimiro. He apparently making them float off, which older Armand attempts to catch them, younger Armand marveling at the scars on himself. Older Armand is then scolded for walking away from him, since he wouldn't have been able to help, Armand noting Casimiro had located the wrong Armand, this coming to the subj. of Casimiro being a counter, rather than one of the time cops. Casimiro then makes clear how they could help each other, Armand completely on board once he understood. Casimiro then makes a reservation with older Armand at the Helen once more.
