Hawken #5 of 6

At the ring's station, Peavine is in bed with Bates chatting of his bloody memory before getting shot in the head through the window. Bates dresses as he orders his men outside to watch out for a shooter, then the sharpshooter gets taken out, men thinking it could be Apaches, whilst Hawken picks them off from a high vantage near the buildings. Soon, Bates realizes who it is and orders they get out the big gatling gun. 2 idiots think they'll actually have a chance at killing Hawken as they search the barn, seeing the mule.

1 gets stabbed in the head walking through a door. Hawken stands hidden across from where they are rolling out the gatling gun. He's noticed, but when the group notices the 2 fighting, instead of physically helping, Bates orders they fire on both. What gets the large man on top of Hawken though, is the lantern he smashes on him, he running off screaming, directly into their shipment of explosives: big boom.

Hawken is blown into the air, and when he lands, Lil and the ghosts consider whether Hawken had reached his end, but then he sees Thumbsucker, who points to Bates approaching Hawken from behind. Hawken still surprises him with a shank to the ankle, he confessing how he'd been planning to give up his role leading for Gallis, Hawken helping Mary who had been aching to get a bigger cut. Hawken shoots Bates in the leg this time, wanting details. Hawken finally faces Mary having tired to use him.

Meanwhile, Mary is instructing her courier to be sensitive with the cargo, it being a gift to their tradesman in Tucson. Gallis already had prepared a place in his museum of odd items for his package. Hawken finally takes out Bates, then announces to Lil of returning to Lapida, Sombre already there.

Whoo hoo! Here comes the conclusion! So fun, so far!
