Hawken #2 of 6

By Benjamin Truman

AZ desert, a man is hanging upside down, and is woken by Hawken pissing on his face. This prompts the man to ask in Spanish what's happening, then in English stating how Hawken is fucking with the wrong group, to which he doesn't care, ofc. Hawken offers the man 2 options from 2 sacks. When he sees Rojo's head in the 1 he chooses, he confesses the gang's scheme regarding the stolen horses they're selling back to the army.

Hawken readies to leave the guy hanging when he requests Hawken the "solution" in the other bag, a snake biting him. In Tucson, a man uses the last of his ice for a drink and considers every message regarding the ring Hawken acquired is for him to answer. Gallis remembers when he'd put Hawken to death, he then getting a telegram stating of more issues. Hawken is sitting as Lil chats of how the people of Lapida most likely won't hesitate to shoot him.

Rojo finally shows up looking confused for his new ghostly attachment to Hawken. He's informed his buddy was killed by a snake, so won't be joining them, since Hawken didn't directly kill him. Hawken plans to contact Wu Lung, who still worked with the ring, but Hawken doesn't care and shoos her, and the others away. The thumbsucker kid doesn't stop staring at Hawken though, so he puts the ring into his bonfire.

Meanwhile, in Pentecost Town, a preacher is about to say a prayer for a prisoner, when he's rejected, so the man is brought outside to the gallows. The man's murder and rapes of the preacher's wife and daughter are announced, and before they can let him drop after he'd spit at the reverend's book, a fire is noticed, Sombre's team coming to collect him, they taking out the townies and planning to blame the Apaches. Sombre and the crew are riding out of town as Sombre requests the news Bates had promised to share. He reveals how Hawken, his teacher survived, Sombre considering the opportunity of murdering Hawken again as Hawken looks down at Lapida.

A fantastic continuation, to the point where I've pretty much completed the series and am solely catching up on the reviews for how easy and entertaining these are, onward!
