Hammer of the Gods #4
By Michael Avon Oeming

Thorr's Hall shows how little it was looked after, the God asking for his hammer and Skögul denies knowing where it was, the Valkyries also stating they'd let her back in, if she gave it up. Heimdall, a noob Watcher was posted to watch for giants when his special horn, Gjallar blows through Asgard's Halls. It's assumed giants were coming, she being blamed and pointing the finger back on the Valkyries wrong doings of killing men, the return being it wouldn't have occurred if it wasn't for she stealing the hammer. The final remark being how Skögul must not know how much she'd been used by Loki.
Meanwhile, Odin's sitting on his throne at the highest point of Valhalla's greatest hall, receiving the news from hsi raven of a giant coming. This giant collapses through the open gate of Valhalla, the gods so lazy they don't bother, Modi standing on top of the giant. He at 1st doesn't believe when he faces off with Thorr for he looking old, and when he punches him, he falls without fuss, but Skögul confirms the weakling to be truly the god, they having been drained of power by the giants constant coming, and Thorr's hammer losing its power. So, Modi takes this as a mo. to show how it was done by a mere human.
He does 1 helluva job toppling a bunch, but upon getting weary some time later, he wonders why the gods hadn't begun coming to help. Skögul attempts different ways to coax the gods to help, but no dice, going to the Valkyries leader, Lorgul to have them join, but she's an ass, so Skögul takes some food to Modi, instead. She gives him a smooch before he takes a nap, and the gods look from their tower, believing Modi would fall, but the few giants teaming up are still getting knocked down by Modi after he'd rested. Thorr's hammer still doesn't have power, but after watching Modi a bit, and seeing the giants try to stomp him, Thorr goes out with chariot and looks fierce with his powerless hammer.
So, Thorr is able to last only a short while with his hammer, he soon lying next to Modi in the snow. Modi gets up and apologizes to his pop for what he was about to do for the gods, the hammer coming to life, but not because it regained its own power, but had taken Modi's life, he living through the hammer! Intense shit! None of the 1/2 comics will be able to beat this finale, but the ride should be fun, regardless. Esp, since there's an after 4th episode, but it's not "special", only a 5th to the 4 issue run.
