Cucumber Quest Ch. 5
By Gigi D.G.

Whoa guys, so this is the last of it. Abruptly coming to an end for financial and personal reasons. Here's to a pleasantly, funnily written, short-lived piece from a fine artist. Carrot and Princess Ametrine are walking and he gives her a letter from Princess Piano which shocks her, but then she thanking him quickly and walking on.
Carrot makes sure she knows of how sensitive it was she read it soon, due to how Piano'd made it sound, but Ametrine dismisses this and only claims she'd read it when she felt ready. They reach a skyscraper when King Ruby was being strong-armed for money, but he attempting to stay vigilant. Carrot and Ametrine are 1st met by Obsidian, who takes them directing to 'da boss', Quake, who interrupts Obsidian being a douche, he wishing to chat. Carrot gets to the point of whether Quakemaster was ready to give up.
Quake meets them with a failed attempt at his magic, Carrot bouncing him a shot in the arm, the insides turning into mega flame, which grabs Carrot, Quake not crisping him, yet. Quakemaster checks out his heart-stone and Carrot responds with how Quake wouldn't ever get the meaning, Quake dealing him a good blow, by showing him something, and tossing him aside, he then picking up Ametrine, shouting for him to not forget her, he spent, at the mo. Quakemaster makes it clear what K Ruby should be thinking about and leaves. A Dear Diary follows about reaching Basaltbury, Quakemaster trapping everyone inside town, Nautilus describing her journal technique to Chardonnay, they drifting to Chardonnay's master, being a laze-ball, going off on a rant, she believing the Dream-Oracle didn't truly care to stop the Double K(N)ight.
Then, Chardonnay offers up all info she had on Quakemaster, and advising his biggest weakness was water, so Liquus could be handy, Cuco offering himself as back up. Carrot and Parfait have a lurv connection where she attempts to reassure him he'd be alright, even though they were far apart, but he losing hope, uncaring. She surprised, and he wondering what was going on with his heart-stone. He then wakes up and Ametrine attempts to have him help work out an escape, but he's completely hopeless, and says so.
Obsidian then reveals, having been snooping of Quakemaster having cursed him. Obsidian leaves, and Ametrine reiterates of Carrot needing to stay strong. Meanwhile Obsidian told of how many villagers hadn't paid their fees, it topping the usual so far, Quakermaster readying to do what they had to, which was using his power to create...something under a time limit. Then, it begins to rain, which stops him cold, the 2 instead focusing on separate duties, since they were expecting the big boss.
Quakemaster is greeted by Double K(N)ight by asking what had kept him, Q getting straight to the nibben of his little booboo of wasting his curse on Carrot rather than Ametrine, the real goal. Q then confesses of his powers not being as strong as they used to, the rain truly draining him to the point where he q'd how long he'd be able to last without losing his abilities completely. Double K(N)ight has him focus on the more recent enemies to have stepped into his town, whilst he went off to greet Mistmaster. DK talks of his regret to having taken away most of his power, and how he wanted to return it, but he was too much of a wuss.
He giving what he claimed was a half-assed apology, but sounded more like he was going to make a mess which he should've created long ago, leaving him there. Next, Almond is tripping out over Q's "lair", and how dark it truly was rather than the bright happy flair it put up. The people there made to play and either way seemed to be playing a losing game. Obsidian greets them and Almond declares they were going to stop them, but Obsidian was only there to mention Q was much too busy to bother with them and his wish was her wish, and they were going to be escorted out.
Almond swipes with her gun yelling for Cuco to escape, and then getting distracted with Nautilus shouting to Liquus help her escape the clutches of her captor. Cuco ends up saving her, she quite grateful, Almond looking happy, as well, as Liquus seemed to be charging up. When Nautilus 1st views Liquus, she seems mystified, but he's going on a tirade about Cuco and how he all of a sudden was acting like a hero. When Cuco starts speaking in q's of how Liquus seemed to all of a sudden be able to speak and transform, Liquus confirms, then biffs off, the 2 looking after him.
Then, Nautilus stops him to share how she finally understood what his problem was and how she could aid him, he being a whiner, but how he could turn it around if he wanted only if he cared to put up the effort. Liquus apologizes to them all and realizes he should've gotten stronger rather than wanting to flee. Then, a story told about Parfait hosting a party and putting on a friendly face, but clearly tired, but when she'd naturally turned and saw Carrot shoving food in his face, it was the 1st genuine smile she'd had this evening. This happened to be for Carrot's benefit, but Ametrine had clearly failed by his indifferent responses.
Another memory from Ametrine's side, being rejected from a proposal, but amicably handled on both sides. Carrot notes how she must be trying to convince herself rather than truly helping him believe with her true faith in lurv. She then opens the letter she'd been given, and realizes it was a musical card, to her delight. This gives her the extra oomph to again attempt to have Carrot find optimism, she having renewed her own with her hopeful plans. This next bit is where it's more of a manuscript, sadly.
Double K walks in to where Q was sitting, he readying to confess his true intentions in his plans. He describing how he'd been working against their efforts this whole time to aid the Dreamsiders, Mistmaster having found out, and so he'd weakened him into silence. The knowledge of all the times he'd thought he was close to victory and all because of Double K, pisses off Q so much, he starts melting the room. Next the cell is melted enough for Ametrine to carry Carrot out.
Then, trouble at the casino, it seems to be melting, and Obsidian dashes off, Cuco at 1st thinking it was a punishment. After as they're attempting escape, Nautilus reminds them they were locked in. Back with Double K, he apologizes after Q refuses to follow him any longer, taking him out and turns him into a disaster stone, leaving it there. Cuco, Almond, Chardonnay, and Nautilus do make it outside eventually, since the lava helps with its destruction.
Chardonnay 1st notices Q didn't seem to be with them anymore, Cuco wanting to investigate but being stopped by Almond. Ametrine soon stops since Carrot begins to struggle, having returned to himself. They then being met by Cuco and the gang, they all seeing Obsidian crying over Q's defeat. He then shares his story of how he'd been sent by his K to learn more about their new enemy the Double K, but he knowing what else it meant, he being expendable.
Once getting to know Q and wanting to help him since he'd 1st met him when it was raining, the 2 bonded after being trapped with him inside his disaster stone, he finding a bit of a crush coming on by the time they'd both been released. Q knew it couldn't ever be found out, so Obsidian changed his persona to fit the role he played. He then offers up the stone to Cuco, who declines for not seeing why they should collect them, and already left 1 anyways, the Dream Oracle announcing her presence and not being shocked by his choice. She then trap orbs Chard for going off and neglecting her duties and biffs off with her.
Cuco and Almond are soon left by Nautilus with Liquus in order to save Chard. since she'd "inspired" her. Carrot also decides to bow out when Almond shouts of they having to move along, he also wishing Ametrine luck with her mission. Dangity dang, the end. It was cute while it lasted.
