Astro City: Astra #1

I'm starting this series closer to the end of these vols, but I'm alright with this, since I know where I can read all of ’em! A little background shows a couple supers getting married, having Astra, who grows up in Mt Kirby, and has the chance to go to school and act a bit normal, before she's finally graduating college, the world curious about her future plans. Astra's been a party girl throughout her teens, so had princely and celeb connections, and when her buddies see a drone filming her, she blasts it with power from her hand. Later on, the group is saying their goodbyes til after they settle in their new chapters in their lives in different areas.

Astra stays behind with Matt, her bf to reveal something, and as the 2 walk, Astra takes out another drone following them, fake-journalist-style. She chats of all the offers she'd gotten to control use of her name, and as Matt shows his support with a kiss, they're interrupted by a group of supers emerging from the creek, the 2 standing on a bridge. Astra is ready to fight, but then recognizes the dragon-looking fella, Bertos, who has come to deliver a gift from her grandma, the present officially making her princess of the undersea realms of Monstro City. This is when Matt becomes overwhelmed by how royal she is, and before she can convince him she's still herself, a new trio of supers interrupt.

1 of them, Jason is her ex, but he is offering an invite to their crew, Astra keeping it on her back up list, since it'd depend on her eventual plans. Astra takes Matt back to Mt Kirby, where he fam greets her warmly, and is friendly to Matt, she planning to show him the Knot. After changing, the gateway is turned on, and Matt sees a trippy multi-verse of marble-looking planets. Astra explains they were headed for the Gordian Knot, Matt looking scared af to Astra's flaming-bodied glee. A decent strat, rich super blonde girl getting all the best with connections to powerful people and tech galore! Lets see what happens!
